If you were surprised Rep. Jason Chaffetz decided to not seek reelection as he announced this week, join the party.

Chaffetz, who had been given the green light by President Donald Trump to use oversight investigations no matter what party affiliation to push his law and order agenda. The Utah congressman was so happy he got that endorsement, he was downright giddy.

Watch this video below:

Now, Chaffetz is leaving government suddenly. Rumors have circulated about a possible scandal but nothing is concrete. You have to wonder, why at this time would this young lawmaker step away from such an important role during the Trump administration.

When you sit back and review it, however, we have been asking for term limits for our congressmen so is it possible Chaffetz is performing a self-removal since the people of Utah wouldn’t do it?

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) — “who shocked the political establishment when he announced his retirement earlier this week — said that he has already started looking for post-congressional employment, and hopes to serve on boards of directors and link up with a television network,” Politico reports.

Asked if he is resigning because of a yet-to-be revealed scandal, Chaffetz said: “Absolutely, positively not. Not in any way shape or form.”

He added: “I’ve been given more enemas by more people over the last eight years than you can possibly imagine. From the Secret Service to the Democratic Party. I am who I am. If they had something really scandalous, it would’ve come out a long, long time ago.”

Whatever it is, Chaffetz has at times been one of the best lawmakers on the hill and other times, it seems he was scooped up by the swamp.

Hopefully, in the next few weeks, we are able to learn what really made Chaffetz decide to leave so abruptly.
