Fox News contributor Jason Chaffetz hit the ground running today with his appearance on Outnumbered and a lot of you are going to be talking about this.
Chaffetz now thinks he’s free and clear to say whatever he wants to say whenever he wants to say it. Almost like a weight has been lifted or so it seemed as he was very comfortable on the couch giving his opinion which is what he’s getting paid to do.
As Chaffetz was speaking about Donald Trump Jr’s meeting with a Russian operative, he summed it up with a dig at the Trump family which will definitely anger some supporters and followers. Chaffetz said the Trumps have done some really “dumb stuff,” but this is not one of them.
This comes from a House Representative who chose to leave a seat where he could do something for the American people so sitting on a stool to contribute an opinion. How dumb is that?
Fox News contributor and newly retired Republican congressman Jason Chaffetz appeared on his new home network’s “Outnumbered” on Monday, in large part to discuss the big story of the day: the meeting Donald Trump Jr. arranged with a Kremlin-connected lawyer in 2016.
Chaffetz was insistent throughout that he didn’t think this was a big deal.
After Meghan McCain noted that “optically, it just looks weird,” regardless of if you think the Donald Trump presidential campaign colluded with Russian hacking efforts, Chaffetz argued that it’s “impossible” to remember every meeting from the campaign.
Insisting that it was not a difficult narrative to fight, he said he didn’t think it was a big deal.
“When balls and strikes come across the plate, I’m gonna call them as they are,” he said. “They’ve done some really dumb stuff. This is not one of them.”
McCain added that while they disagreed on how they perceive this story, she would rather not have to discuss Russia, while Lisa Kennedy Montgomery was critical of how Trump Jr. has handled his statements.
