Rapper Cardi B Turned Down Super Bowl Halftime Performance to Support Kaepernick

By Zachary Leeman | February 2, 2019

Rapper and outspoken critic of President Donald Trump Cardi B (shown above right)  has revealed that she is boycotting the Super Bowl this year to show support for Colin Kaepernick (above left), the former quarterback and anthem kneeler who has been unable to secure a new contract in the NFL.

Kaepernick, known more for starting the national anthem-kneeling controversy in his sports league than for athletic accomplishments, has been receiving a lot of support from entertainers as we inch closer to the big game between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Rams.

Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters put out a public statement recently asking the current halftime performers — Maroon 5 — to “take a knee” in support of Kaepernick.

Cardi B told AP News on Friday that she and her husband Offset, who is also a rapper, are boycotting the game in support of Kaepernick.

She also said she missed out on a lot of money by declining a chance to perform during the Super Bowl halftime show.

“My husband, he loves football. His kids play football. It’s really hard for him,” Cardi B said.

She continued, “He really wants to go to the Super Bowl, but he can’t go to the Super Bowl, because he’s got to stand for something.”

The rapper then added, “I got to sacrifice a lot of money to perform. But there’s a man who sacrificed his job for us, so we got to stand behind him.”

Cardi B has become increasingly political in recent weeks.

She called Trump supporters “racist rednecks” in a vulgar rant about the proposed border wall between the United States and Mexico.

She also threatened to assault conservative commentator Tomi Lahren.

All of this extreme rhetoric has made her a hero to the Left — as she was invited to speak to the largest Democratic organization in Iowa.
