A couple of weeks ago, Rep. Gregory Meeks said that Sen. Bernie Sanders should step down from the 2020 Presidential Race because he’s not welcomed as a Democrat if he continues to push the party to the side.
Sanders was given a chance to be a Democrat when he won his last election in Vermont but he told the state party he would rather remain as an independent.
The Democrats allowed Sanders to infiltrate their ranks in 2016, thus destroying their party for years to come. This change speaks volumes.
If Sanders can walk away from his “socialist” convictions to campaign and govern as a Democrat, he was that conman that I have been speaking about. If you believe in something, you stick with that. Bernie knew he wasn’t going to have the backing of a major political party and he would have a hard time winning in 2020 if Democrats had their nominee and Republicans had Trump. Independents fail in election races of that magnitude.
Here’s Sanders’ pledge:
“I acknowledge that the National Chairperson of the DNC is authorized to determine whether a presidential candidate has established substantial support for their nomination as the Democratic candidate has established substantial support for their nomination as the Democratic candidate for the Office of the President of the United States, is a bona fide Democrat whose record of public service, accomplishments, public writings and/or public statements affirmatively demonstrate that the candidate is faithful to the interests, welfare, and success of the Democratic Party of the United States, and will participate in the Convention in good faith.”
Just remember this. Bernie’s fans wanted a socialist, and if he has signed this loyalty pledge to campaign and govern as a Democrat, that’s cutting his nose off to spite his face.
Does this mean the media will now describe Mr. Sanders as “Bernie Sanders (D)” instead of “Bernie Sanders (I)”?
