This decision by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should make everyone’s decision about the 2020 elections a lot easier.
The New York District-14 representative said she doesn’t regret invoking the Holocaust and concentration camp comparison to the detention centers now holding illegal aliens.
Even though she doesn’t regret the comparison, she does agree that her statements were misinterpreted.
“One I don’t regret it at all,” she said. “A group, in fact of, I think 200, at least 200, historians, rabbis, academics have come together in support of this term.”
Regarding whether she believes the conditions in the border facilities are the same as the death camps run by the Nazis, Ocasio-Cortez said she does, pointing to a visit she made with other members of Congress to the border.
“I’ve seen it. I’ve sat on concrete floors with woman whose hair was falling out and they’re developing sores in their mouth,” she explained. “Parents are dying with their children watching them and all without a trial, all with just an accusation, and all with the intent to dehumanize.”
Ocasio-Cortez said it was “ahistorical” for Republicans to accuse her of being anti-Semitic for downplaying the Holocaust to score political points. [Washington Examiner]
As if ignorance isn’t enough, she refuses to learn and instead, continues a narrative that fits her worldview. I also find this pretty rich rhetoric from someone in favor of ‘humane euthanization’ of the terminally ill, anyone over 80 years old, and the’ hyper-handicapped,’ those who she deems unfit to support society. Or is she still joking?
This is the kind of stuff that will drive swing voters to Trump. Equivocations. Overreactions and people are tired, really tired, of being called racist, etc, when they’re not.
