On Thursday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted that Rep. Justin Amash was “right” criticizing Congress for becoming increasingly partisan, even though he was tweeting more about the Republican party than anything else.
AOC retweeted Amash’s opinion piece written in The Washington Post, where he announced that he is leaving the Republican Party.
Amash wrote that “we are fast approaching the point … where Congress exists as little more than a formality to legitimize outcomes dictated by the president, the speaker of the House and the Senate majority leader.”

Amash is the only sitting House GOP member calling for Pres. Trump to be impeached.
Trump reacted to Amash’s announcement by tweeting that it was “great news” for Republicans and labeling Amash “a total loser.”
“Great news for the Republican Party as one of the dumbest & most disloyal men in Congress is ‘quitting’ the Party,” Trump tweeted. “No Collusion, No Obstruction! Knew he couldn’t get the nomination to run again in the Great State of Michigan. Already being challenged for his seat. A total loser.”
Amash been in the US Congress since 2010 and he just now discovered politics is crocked? Yeah, right.
The man is halfway through his term and abandoning the Republican people who voted for him to become “independent”. He didn’t have the balls or the integrity to do that before his last election in 2018. Nobody is going to forgive that.
P.S. The plus side is that since he quit the Republicans won’t have to waste time and money primary-ing to get rid of him.
