America Downgraded to #46 in the World Press Freedom Index

The lapdog media is largely silent even as this administration furthers attempts to muzzle voices of opposition. As if we needed additional validation, Breitbart is reporting that a group called Reporters Without Borders dropped America in the World Press Freedom Index 2014 from 33rd to 46th. That’s pretty sad for a country that considers itself to be a beacon of freedom in the world.

As Ben Shapiro explains, “The violation of press freedoms has been egregious under this administration, even as the press fetes President Obama as an honest and effective commander-in-chief.” He goes on,

“The Obama administration has been curtailing press freedom – but that hasn’t ended the press’ drool-cup worship for their beloved president. Despite occasional flare-ups, the relationship between the Obama White House and its press lackeys remains strong. Which is not only a testament to the tyrannical tendencies of the Obama administration, but to the cowardice of those who cover it.”

From granting selective access to reporters who given him preferential coverage, to refusing to comply with Freedom of Information Act requests, this administration has been extremely enigmatic. Targeting Reporters, prosecuting whistleblowers and now instituting FCC monitoring to ensure ‘fairness’ in reporting?

These are extreme infringements on freedom of the press! Is the media suffering from tunnel vision so badly that they no longer recognize freedom from tyranny? Under what authority can the FCC monitor the news to see if it’s reporting what the FCC thinks it should be reporting?  Imagine if George W Bush had put “political monitors” in newsrooms. Democrats would be screaming bloody murder! And rightfully so.

I’m a staunch supporter of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. No matter who is being attacked. Because that is what liberty is all about.
