U.S. Attorney General William Barr responded to special counsel Robert Mueller’s press briefing he gave on Wednesday claiming the career law enforcement official could have decided on whether or not President Trump committed obstruction of justice; he just didn’t.
AG Barr: “I personally felt he could’ve reached a decision…He could have reached a conclusion. The opinion says you cannot indict a president while he is in office, but he could’ve reached a decision as to whether it was criminal activity. But he had his reasons for not doing it, which he explained and I am not going to, you know, argue about those reasons.”
Mueller’s deliberate choice to not make a definite conclusion about “Obstruction” was merely a means to pass the investigation on to the House Democrats. There was no evidence of a crime to prosecute. Mueller should have stopped there. In time, it will be evident that Mueller chose poorly.
I have been thinking about this regularly, like on the clock, and Mueller’s choice to do what he has done is not even close to being logical. It’s more like he revels in continuing a game of keeping the country confused and in limbo.
I feel that Mueller did what he did so that the Democrats would pick up the pass he threw to them so that they could make a run for impeachment. They have been kicking the can down the road day after day with the threat of impeaching President Trump because they didn’t have the main ingredient to make things come together. Mueller’s words are the “main ingredient,” but it’s part of what they would need to hold their kabuki trial.
Yesterday in his bizarre statements, Mueller spoke of giving the indicted Russians the presumption of innocence since they have not yet been tried in court. Two minutes later, in the most grotesque verbal contortions, he denied the President of the United States the very same presumption of innocence.
I love a career investigator claiming that he couldn’t prove a negative. No respectful or decent investigator would ever say they couldn’t prove that someone did not commit a crime. What a dirty, filthy, corrupt cop.
The important thing is for Barr to act with speed. Get to the bottom of this and get the criminals indicted. If it weren’t for Barr, we’d still be waiting for the Mueller report, so I think he’s going to make it happen quickly.
Barr, most likely, wants to get the DOJ and FBI cleansed and restored and then get the hell out of DC.
