A young couple who shared their lives on Instagram decided to buy a Ford cargo van and take a road trip to the west coast, and document their adventures for their Instagram followers.

And things appeared to be going well when the trip started last July, but by the end of August, everything had changed.

The young girl ended up “missing” and the boyfriend took the van, and drove back home to Florida, and lawyered up and refused to speak to the police.

New York Post reported that 22-year-old Long Island woman has gone missing under mysterious circumstances during a cross-country road trip with her boyfriend — and her family is seeking the public’s help in finding her.

Gabby Petito was last known to be in Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park in late August after embarking on the tour with her boyfriend — identified on social media as Brian Laundrie — the month before, Newsday reported.

Authorities said the vehicle the couple was traveling in, a white 2012 Ford Transit van with Florida plates, has been recovered, according to the outlet.

Laundrie, who has returned to his Florida home, has hired an attorney and has refused to cooperate with authorities, the Daily Mail reported, citing her family.

Here is the video the couple posted on Instagram.

Watch:

There’s not a lot of info on what happened or what could have happened because the boyfriend won’t speak to the police.

This guy drove the van home and lawyered up immediately.

He did however release a totally bizarre statement through his attorney.

The statement started off by saying that this was a “difficult time for both families.”

Here’s the bizarre statement:

“I understand that a search has been organized for Miss Petito in or near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming,

On behalf of the Laundry family, it is our hope that the search for Miss Petito is successful and that Miss Petito is reunited with her family.

On the advice of counsel, the Laundrie family is remaining in the background at this juncture and will have no further comment.”

I don’t think it takes rocket science to figure out that this guy knows something about what happened.

You’d think the attorneys wouldn’t use “Ms. Peitito,” in the statement and instead would say “Gabby.”

It sounds so sociopathic and cold.

I follow enough “true crime” stories to know that most of the time it’s the spouse or the significant other in cases like this.

Let’s hope that they’ve got good cops working on this and they can get to the bottom of this bizarre mystery.
