Earlier this week, we reported that “CBS This Morning” host Gayle King had said that she’d been told that Prince Harry had been in contact with his brother Prince William since his explosive tell-all interview with her friend Oprah Winfrey, but that their talks were “not productive.”

“The word I was given was that those conversations were not productive, but they are glad they have at least started a conversation,” King said of Harry’s talks with his family.

Now, a source is telling Entertainment Tonight that William is “deeply distressed with Harry and Meghan’s decision to share private family conversations” with King.

Yes, the racist stuff was awful, but Harry really backstabbed the family when he shared private talks with the press. William is angrier over the comments about his wife than anything else.

The source went on to say that William is “fiercely protective” of his wife Kate Middleton and was “unhappy” with Meghan Markle’s decisions to draw her into the interview. Meghan had claimed in the interview that it was actually Kate who made her cry in the lead-up to her wedding to Harry, while the press reported that it was the other way around.

“I’m not sharing that piece about Kate in any way to be disparaging to her,” Meghan said in the interview. “I think it’s really important for people to understand the truth. And, look, I– I would hope that she would have wanted that corrected, and maybe in the same way that the Palace wouldn’t let anybody else — negate it, they wouldn’t let her, because she’s a good person.”

The source also said that Queen Elizabeth has found the whole situation to be “very upsetting.”

During their interview, Meghan claimed that she was hit with racism from within the royal family, claiming that an unnamed senior royal questioned how dark her then-unborn son Archie’s skin would be. Harry refused to name this family member, only saying that it was neither Queen Elizabeth nor Prince Philip. Meghan also claimed that she felt so isolated as a royal that she considered committing suicide at one point during her pregnancy.

The royal family responded two days later in a brief statement released by Buckingham Palace.

“The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan,” the royal family said in a statement obtained by Fox News. “The issues raised, particularly that of race, are concerning. While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately. Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much-loved family members.”

When asked about the interview by a reporter last week, William replied, “We are very much not a racist family. I haven’t spoken to [Harry] yet, but I will do.”
