I saw this video floating around online, and I watched it, thinking it would just be another “typical” cop/bad guy “Ring” video…Boy was I wrong.
I actually jumped and yelled out as I watched it, I didn’t see what actually happened, coming. Wow.
I will say this much — that police officer had an angel on her shoulder because after seeing this video, she 100 percent should not be alive right now.
All she was doing was a routine “wellness check” out in the safe suburbs when everything went completely and totally wrong in the blink of an eye.
WARREN COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX/Gray News) – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office has released video from a doorbell camera that shows a man firing at a deputy in Mason in February.
On Feb. 15, deputies were dispatched a little before 7 p.m. for a well-being check.
In the video, you see them trying to make contact with 56-year-old Lance Runion, who the sheriff’s office says then opened the door and shot at Deputy Sara Vaught who was standing on the front porch.
She was not injured.
The sheriff’s office said she immediately returned fire and shot Runion several times.
Runion was critically injured and has been charged with attempted murder and felonious assault in connection with the incident.
He is still in the hospital and is recovering, according to the sheriff’s office.
Vaught has been put on administrative leave as per policy while the investigation is underway.
You can watch the video (warning graphic/shocking):

Here’s what Local 12 reported don Mr. Runion
Deputies were called to Hunt Club Drive for a possible overdose by a distraught man, identified as Lance Runion.
His brother told 911 that Runion had a history of emotional issues and had taken something, claiming he just wanted to go to sleep. According to a police report, he had sent a jumbled group text telling people he loved them.
The brother did tell 911 that Runion had guns in the house but he didn’t believe he would use them on anyone.
The latest update on Mr. Runion is that he will survive his injuries and also that he’s been charged with attempted murder and felonious assault.
He is recovering from several gunshot wounds in the hospital.
