Harry Rogers, 36, a self-avowed leader of the Ku Klux Klan, has been found guilty of attacking Black Lives Matter protesters at a rally — with his car, but it wasn’t a hate crime, a judge ruled on Monday.

Rogers purposely drove his vehicle into a crowd that had been protesting against racial injustice and police brutality. According to Shannon Tyler, the Henrico County Commonwealth Attorney, he drove down a road’s median strip until he reached the protestors, then revved his engine and plowed into them.

A video captured at least two protestors being struck by his truck and another woman jumping onto the hood of the car to avoid being run over.

Rogers boasted about his attempt to maim and hurt the protesters on his Facebook Live Video, which has been taken down.

“They scattered like cockroaches,” he reportedly said. “It’s kind of funny if you ask me.”

The video has since been deleted. Here’s the video report:

Rogers was initially charged with attempted malicious wounding (felony), destruction of property (felony), and assault and battery (misdemeanor).

All of the victims in the incident pressing charges were caucasian. The judge in the case found that under Virginia law, illegal acts against people or property are not considered “hate crimes” unless the victims are members of the hated group.

Say what you will about the Black Lives Matter protesters, I don’t condone drivers purposely running over them to maim or hurt them. Nobody should. Do you agree?
