Newsweek has dropped a concerning report that COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is now the No. 1 cause of death in the U.S. — killing more people on average per day than cancer or heart disease.
This may be true except for the fact that factually, people living with cancer were killed by disease, and a heart attack killed heart attack victims. Those ‘death totals’ that officially list as ‘died from the virus’ include so many other issues that could have been put on the death certificate as the cause of death. Many of these never even tested positive for the virus, but simply had the symptoms of it.
I read a doctor’s piece where he noted how they rarely, if ever, put down influenza as the cause of death, so why is Coronavirus listed #1 on the death certificate? If a person who has tested positive for the virus but has no symptoms happens to be walking down the street and is hit by a bus and is killed, the virus gets top billing as the cause of death, simply because he tested positive. The numbers are higher because they are lumping all deaths they possibly can to the virus. Because of this, they can’t compare the virus numbers to cancer and heart disease numbers.
The virus is the cause of 1,970 deaths in the U.S. per day, according to a graph published Tuesday by Dr. Maria Danilychev, based in San Diego, Calif. In comparison, the graph shows 1,774 deaths per day are attributed to heart disease and 1,641 to cancer, according to Newsweek.
The visualization comes as the death toll in the U.S has continued to dramatically rise in recent weeks. Fatalities surpassed 16,600 by the end of Thursday, an increase of more than 12,000 deaths from data posted by Johns Hopkins University just eight days earlier.
Deaths related to the coronavirus across the U.S. hit 1,939 on Tuesday, which was also the highest single-day total for any country since the virus was first detected in China late last year.
Just a week ago, the graph, which cites the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Worldmeters.info as sources — showed COVID-19 as the third leading cause of death, averaging roughly 975 fatalities per day.
On March 22, it showed COVID-19’s daily death rate starting to surge, passing flu and pneumonia and suicide, as well as liver and kidney disease.

Let’s not forget that the CDC says 29-59,000 have died this year from the flu. They predict over 70,000 at years end. Yes, for a few days, the numbers for Coronavirus will be high, and then what? When you take the overall average, it will be small.
We were warned that this was the week where numbers would be high. Fewer people are getting sick, fewer people are being admitted to hospitals, and more people are recovering.
Word to the wise. Get your groceries (if you can) before the checks hit. People will be rushing the grocery stores when the stimulus checks hit (some people can’t afford to go now and have been without for a minute). If you need to top off, do it before Monday. The stores will be a bit of a madhouse after the checks hit. Shelves will be bare for a while after the checks hit.
