California continues to descend into an absolute abyss of hopelessness.

Plagued with outrageous smog, high taxes, crime, drugs, homelessness, wildfires, and poop-coated streets, the once-thriving state is now a third-world liberal sh*thole, where many people can’t even afford basic housing.

It’s gotten so bad, that millennials are now turning to alternative forms of living. They’re paying a fortune ($800 per month) to live in coffin-like pods.

A new lifestyle called ‘podlife’ has sprung up to combat the housing affordability crisis.

Coffin-like “pod” cost people $800 per month

The coffin-pods come with a set of rules that many renters are not happy about. Among the most unpopular is that lights must go out at 10:00 pm and no guests are allowed inside the pod.

These coffin-pods were inspired by “capsule hotels” in Japan

Inspired by the famous hotels in Japan, each room contains up to six capsules, described by residents as “cozy,” containing a single bed, a bar for hanging clothes, a few compartments for storing shoes and other items and an air vent.

By most standards, the coffin-like accommodation is still not cheap – $750 per month plus taxes. That works out at around $800 and there are still rules… women and men sleep apart, and having sex is not an option.

For Dana Cuff, an architect and professor at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), this type of community presents only a short-term solution.

“We basically need to be developing a huge range of options for the kinds of housing that are available,” she said.

“To me, co-living pods… are symptoms of this deep need for a much greater range of housing alternatives.” [Zerohedge]

One woman, Kay Wilson, packed up her entire life and moved to Los Angeles. Once there, she found that what she paid back in Pennsylvania for a lovely studio apartment only got her a  2.9-square-meter box in California. “I sold all my belongings and I moved here to be in this pod… I’m finding comfort in being uncomfortable,”

The “American Dream?”

These people are really “living the dream,” right? All they need now is a nice big plate of sauteed bugs with a side of kale to complete the “California experience.”

All laughs aside, this is how liberals prefer we all live, like bugs in a box. After all, it would lessen our carbon footprint and help save the planet from combusting in 12-years.?

It’s like paying $800 per month for a homeless shelter
