Coming in on a visa to obtain free medical care is not a valid reason for a green card.

Late Friday night, in an effort to crack down of immigrants trying to obtain visas under false pretenses, Pres. Donald Trump issued a proclamation Friday requiring immigrants to prove they can obtain health insurance before they are issued a visa.

This is one of the latest in a series of moves by the Trump administration to restrict illegal immigration. The proclamation says immigrants must show that they will have health insurance within 30 days of entering the United States or that they can afford to cover any medical expenses.

I have no problem with not bringing in deadbeats. We don’t need more unproductive residents.

The new rule — issued at 7 p.m. on a Friday, less than 13 months before Election Day — comes as President Trump is facing an impeachment inquiry and intensifying his efforts to fulfill his campaign promises to curb immigration. Like many of Trump’s immigration policies, it is likely to face swift legal challenges in federal courts.

Trump said he is taking the action to “protect the availability of health care benefits for Americans,” and said, “taxpayers bear substantial cost” in paying for medical expenses of people who lack health insurance.

“Immigrants who enter this country should not further saddle our health care system, and subsequently American taxpayers, with higher costs,” Trump said in the proclamation.

Analysts said the proclamation appears to target family-based migration, the type of “chain migration” that the Trump administration and White House aide Stephen Miller, an immigration hawk, have been unable to persuade Congress to reduce. The White House has pushed for policies that would favor wealthier immigrants with special skills over immigrants from poorer countries, including in Latin America. [Washington Post]

As it should be. You are not supposed to leave your country thinking you will come to America and soak up welfare and benefits.

You can’t afford to come if you can’t afford our health care cost, which is partially due to illegal aliens in the first place. Ask California, they give away TONS of taxpayer money to illegals.
