Politico is reporting that Sen. Kamala Harris’s struggling presidential campaign is laying off dozens of staffers and cutting the pay of top officials pay cuts so they can “effectively compete” with the frontrunners, according to a memo sent out on Wednesday.

Politico released the memo which revealed strategy changes including moving a majority of field staffers to Iowa, where the campaign is going “all-in.”

Juan Rodriguez, a campaign manager who wrote the memo stated, “In a field of 18 candidates, we face an incredibly competitive resource environment. To effectively compete with the top campaigns and make the necessary investments in the critical final 100 days to the caucus, we need to reduce expenditures elsewhere and realign resources.”

Rodriguez continued that he was taking a salary cut as would all campaign consultants, while the campaign would “trim and renegotiate contracts.” Harris had staff located in New Hampshire, Nevada, and California. All that is gone now that they will be moving operations to Iowa.

Hours after a campaign memo outlined cutting staff and shifting resources to Iowa, Sen. Kamala Harris insisted she remains a “top tier” presidential candidate.

“I fully intend to win,” she told reporters Wednesday night before speaking at a house party here. “It is not going to be easy — I knew that from day one, and I made that very clear from day one.”

Harris faced a wave of questions from reporters about whether her campaign is still viable after a leaked memo from campaign manager Juan Rodriguez showed Harris’ campaign is cutting staff from her headquarters. Rodriguez wrote that, in addition to some job eliminations, he and other key staffers will take pay cuts. [USA Today]

Harris’ campaign has been dead for the last six weeks. That’s when Rep. Tulsi Gabbard blew her up on stage during the Democratic debate and she has never recovered.

Here’s a little bit more truth. She might want to check the Iowa polls. Is it worth doing this in order to beat Tom Steyer for sole possession of sixth place? The story is the same in New Hampshire and in her home state of California, she’s coming in at fourth.

It’s over.
