On Monday morning, a federal judge handed down a decision that rejected Pres. Trump’s challenge to handover eight years of personal and business tax returns.

Pres. Trump has been trying to prevent the Manhattan District Attorney from reviewing his tax returns during an investigation into reimbursements to Michael Cohen, who paid off Stormy Daniels back in 2016. The judge’s ruling says that Trump can’t stop his accountants from releasing his tax records per a subpoena:

A federal judge Monday emphatically rejected President Donald Trump’s challenge to the release of his tax returns to New York prosecutors, saying the president’s broad claim of immunity from all criminal investigations is at odds with the Constitution. But an appeals court blocked the handover of the documents for now.

At issue is a request from Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. that Trump’s accounting firm turn over eight years’ worth of his business and personal tax returns for an investigation into the payment of hush money to two women who claimed to have had affairs with the president.

U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero turned down Trump’s challenge, saying he could not grant the president a “categorical and limitless assertion of presidential immunity.”

Trump’s lawyers immediately appealed to the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and it granted a temporary stay of the judge’s ruling “pending expedited review” by the court. [Yahoo Business]

It seems the judge didn’t care for Trump’s defensive legal arguments in the challenge:

In a 75-page ruling, Judge Marrero called president’s argument “repugnant to the nation’s governmental structure and constitutional values.” Presidents, their families and businesses are not above the law, the judge ruled.

According to the New York Times, Trump’s lawyers will appeal the decision…

Lawyers for Mr. Trump quickly told the court they would appeal the ruling from Judge Victor Marrero of Manhattan federal court. The president’s lawyers could not immediately be reached for comment.

Releasing returns is done in good faith because it is a complete exposure and invasion of privacy. Democrat has demonstrated they cannot act in good faith when it comes to Trump. Don’t blame him for not giving them more fodder for their hate campaign against him.

Sorry judge, but what you ruled was a personal opinion, not anything based in law. You don’t get to have your own idea written into the records as law. It doesn’t matter how you “feel” about the president. If what you rule is not based on the execution of or reading of existing law, your “feelings” and “opinions” mean diddly squat.

Trump’s lawyers are correct in appealing this. On a side note. There is no law requiring that a duly elected president turn over his tax returns for public scrutiny just like there is no law that says a person such as former president Obama must turn over his school transcripts for public scrutiny. It’s frustrating, I know, but it can be construed a violation of Constitutional protected rights to do so and if abused (no matter how just the cause may seem) is a very slippery slope and a sword that can slice both ways if we’re not careful.

If this judge can find a “probable cause” why anyone would need access to Pres. Trump’s tax returns, then he would in all probability have a just ruling. But just wanting someone’s private correspondence for political purposes in the absence of a crime or criminal intent? This judge needs to go pound sand.

I am sure that Pres. Trump’s lawyers will work diligently and prevent the release of the tax records as they are not a requirement to become President, but what is happening in New York is something strange and different.

The judge, in the case, is a Bill Clinton appointee.
