On Thursday, Pres. Trump spoke at a GOP lawmaker retreat in Baltimore, Maryland, when he had a message for Los Angeles and other cities in California due to the homeless problem that is way out of hand.
Pres. Trump’s message to those cities was to “clean it up.”
How many times have we seen the videos on websites and in documentaries about the homeless problem on the West Coast that stretches from California up to the state of Washington? American should not be living like that on its worst day, but the city lawmakers continue to talk a good game, but they have no action.
Pres. Trump observed that businesses are leaving Democratic-controlled cities because the lawmakers in charge are not doing their job. According to a White House official, the Trump administration has a team on the ground in the state of California to collect facts about the homelessness crisis, but would not go further on the agenda.
“We’re going to fight for the future of cities like Baltimore that have been destroyed by decades of failed and corrupt rule. These are our great American cities and they’re an embarrassment,” Trump said.
He’s made it a campaign issue, telling a Make America Great Again rally in August in Ohio, “Nearly half of all the homeless people living in the streets in America happen to live in the state of California. What they are doing to our beautiful California is a disgrace to our country. It’s a shame the world is looking at it. Look at Los Angeles with the tents and the horrible, horrible disgusting conditions. Look at San Francisco. Look at some of your other cities.”
“Like many Americans, the President has taken notice of the homelessness crisis, particularly in cities and states where the liberal policies of overregulation, excessive taxation, and poor public service delivery are combining to dramatically increase poverty and public health risks,” White House spokesman Judd Deere said in a statement.
“In June, the President took action and signed an Executive Order to confront the regulatory barriers to affordable housing development, a leading cause of homelessness. President Trump has directed his team to go further and develop a range of policy options for consideration to deal with this tragedy.” [ABC News]
California and other cities in the state created their problem by not doing anything about it for decades and decades, they kicked the can so far down the road that it’s gotten out of control, Democrats in that state should be very ashamed to show their faces every day, millions (If not more) of dollars wasted, or pocketed, or given to cronies, and the voters themselves should be very ashamed for voting for these politicians that have squandered money that should have been used to help those that needed help, but rather support and comfort to illegals instead of their own.
Billions of dollars could be and are spent on inner-city societal issues and have not done anything except to enrich politicians and drug dealers. In the seventies, the move was on to close mental health facilities to integrate those patients into mainstream society in the expectation that it would facilitate their recovery, it didn’t, and it ultimately failed. Now the mental health care facilities have moved to the streets with absolutely no care.
Many of the homeless have mental health issues, drug addiction, or are ex-military with issues. Maybe some of the community service done by criminals can be to clean up these areas. Might help prevent youth recidivism.
Government officials in California have chosen to support Illegals, with sanctuary cities, government programs, and being soft on crime. They live by their own set of rules, so their homeless problem is on them. They want federal help, but won’t follow federal rules.
For all you Trump haters out there who say Trump doesn’t care! Answer me this! Obama just bought a multi-million dollar gated Mansion on Marthas Vineyard! How is he helping the homeless?
