Sen. Bernie Sanders weighed in on Israeli officials barring Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar from visiting the country based on their vocal support for the anti-Israel boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also claimed their agenda’s “sole objective is to strengthen the boycott against us and deny Israel’s legitimacy.”

MSNBC host Ali Velshi tried to fan the flames asking Sanders what was his view on Israel’s decision “President Trump asking the president [sic] of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, to do this, and Netanyahu obliging.”

Sanders: “If Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu does not want to allow Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) to visit, “maybe he can respectfully decline the billions of dollars” that the U.S. gives to Israel”

“But the idea that a member of the United States Congress cannot visit a nation which, by the way, we support to the tune of billions and billions of dollars, is clearly an outrage”

“And if Israel doesn’t want members of the United States Congress to visit their country, to get a first-hand look at what’s going on – and I’ve been there many, many times – but if he doesn’t want members to visit, maybe he can respectfully decline the billions of dollars that we supp—that we give to Israel”

Sanders has made suggestions like this before, leveraging US aid to Israel to achieve foreign policy outcomes. In the past, Sanders said he supports Israel’s right to exist in peace and security but has repeatedly criticized the Netanyahu and advocated for Palestinian rights.

Why, Bernie, should Israel give up foreign aid for barring two people who have demonstrated that they are anti-Israel and want a Palestinian state without Israel.

Bernie is anti-Israel, what is new? I applaud Israel for denying these two disgraceful congresswomen who have 9% approval ratings in the USA, the desire to come to take a piss on Israel as they do the USA every day.

America does not need these two trouble makers making official visits to insult our allies on their home soil. Were they from any other nation they would have been denied immediately?

Sanders isn’t much of an example of a politician or representing Jewish values, otherwise, he would hold the PA to the task and these antisemite congresswomen too. As for the aid to Israel, he knows the US gets more from the aid money than Israel does, probably 10 fold the investment. It’s one of the best returns the U.S. has.
