A mother based in Washington, D.C., alleges that her political-consultant husband left her for Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), The New York Post is reporting on Tuesday.
The Post says it obtained the divorce filing.
Dr. Beth Jordan Mynett, a physician, says that “her cheating spouse,” Tim Mynett, told her in April of this year he was having an affair with the Somali-born Democratic lawmaker, The Post reported.
The man even made a “shocking declaration of love” for the controversial Minnesota congresswoman — before leaving his wife for her, the filing alleges.
It was submitted in D.C. Superior Court on Tuesday, noted The Post.

The physician is 55, while her husband — or about-to-be former husband — is 38 years old.
The couple has a 13-year-old son together, the outlet also explained.
The man has worked for other Democrats in the past, including Keith Ellison.
The Post also reported that the 37-year-old Democratic congresswoman — who is a mother of three — paid Tim Mynett and his E. Street Group approximately $230,000 through her campaign since 2018 for fundraising consulting, digital communications, internet advertising and travel expenses.
The pair — Omar and Mynett — have been photographed together on various occasions, according to reports.
The Daily Mail in early August carried this headline on one of its pieces: “Exclusive: Is Ilhan Omar having an affair with this Dem strategist? The man she was holding hands with at an exclusive eatery is Tim Mynett, who has constantly been by her side, left his physician wife and was paid $250K by her campaign.”
Omar has been accused in the past of marrying her own brother.
Last month, reports circulated that Omar had left her husband, Ahmed Hirsi, and moved into a penthouse apartment in a trendy Minneapolis neighborhood.
That separation came as questions have swirled about Omar’s controversial marriages — a subject that’s garnered national attention and even commentary by President Donald Trump.

The controversial Minnesota Democrat has come under fire for a number of statements she’s made ever since her election in the fall 2018 midterms.
Earlier this year, she described the 9/11 attackers — while speaking to CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations — as “some people,” instead of as Muslims.
“CAIR was founded after 9/11,” she declared (in error, by the way), “because they recognized that some people did something and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.”
Many people across the country feel her words and actions have been anti-American.
“If Omar refuses to recognize 9/11 as an attack on the American homeland, she doesn’t deserve citizenship and most definitely shouldn’t be in Congress,” declared conservative radio show host and blogger Wayne Dupree in April of this year.
