Pamela Turner was shot and killed after struggling with a law enforcement officer trying to arrest her for outstanding warrants.

Turner allegedly managed to get the officer’s taser from him and stun him which caused him to shoot her “five times.” According to the report, the officer had known Turner from past meetings, and her family claims she had schizophrenia while also taking medication.

I am struggling with the fact that he shot her “five times.” The officer tased her but it didn’t work, and somehow she got it from him and tased him? I thought the taser had to recharge after being deployed. Let me ask the question like this because I don’t know anything about tasers. One you deploy them, don’t you have to retract them somehow to deploy again?

Turner yelled out “I’m pregnant” before the shots rang out killing her.

“During the course of the attempted arrest, the female began struggling with the officer, which forced the officer to deploy his Taser,” said Lt. Steve Dorris, with the Baytown Police Department. “That deployment was not effective, and the female was able to get the officer’s Taser away from him. (She) actually tased the officer, which forced the officer to draw his duty weapon and fire multiple rounds at the suspect.”

Turner was pronounced dead at the scene.

Court records show Turner did have three outstanding warrants. Two were for criminal mischief and another for assault resulting in bodily injury.

Witnesses in the area saw the altercation happening and were able to get a video of the incident and posted it on social media.

“It’s unfortunate that somebody takes a tragic incident like this and posts it on social media,” said Dorris. “It’s extremely disrespectful for everybody involved, but that’s the day and age we live in with social media.” [Click 2 Houston]
