Chicago law officials have dropped 16 felony charges against actor Jussie Smollett after a grand jury felt there was enough evidence that showed he staged a ‘hate crime’ against himself earlier this year.
The decision was made by Kim Foxx, an attorney inside Cook County State, who had initially recused herself from the case when text and email exchanges appeared to show powerful ally of Smollett’s family were revealed.
“After reviewing all of the facts and circumstances of the case, including Mr. Smollet’s volunteer service in the community and agreement to forfeit his bond to the City of Chicago, we believe this outcome is a just disposition & appropriate resolution…”
Once again, Foxx recused herself from the Smollett investigation. So how can she drop all charges against the suspect in the same case she recused herself from?
All charges have been dropped against actor Jussie Smollett for filing a false police report following an alleged hate-crime attack.
The “Empire” star made an emergency court appearance Tuesday morning in Chicago where he learned his record would be wiped clean.
“Today, all criminal charges against Jussie Smollett were dropped and his record has been wiped clean of the filing of this tragic complaint against him,” a statement from Smollett’s attorneys read
Do you know what this sounds like? The attorney then pulled out a bag of money and tossed it in the general direction of Chicago’s finest judges and prosecutors, who made a mad dive for the cash while Smollett walked out a free man.
